"My husband John and I decided to have our home painted recently. As part of the process, we did our due diligence, attended a number of paint stores and made inquiries with the sales associates in terms of whether they had any recommendations for experienced painters, and what feedback they had received from other customers. One of the first recommendations made was J.M.W. Painting. We were told that they were a husband and wife team who had many years of experience, were very pleasant to deal with, were very good painters, and had an established professional reputation.
The next step in the process was to obtain quotes. My husband was very prudent and contacted several painters to come and provide us with estimates. While a number of the quotes provided were relatively close in price, what stood out with Mike's quote from J.M.W. Painting was the fact that he could provide us with an exact starting date, provided a realistic timeline to get the job completed, had set hours of work, made a commitment as to when he could start the work, would make our home his priority and not leave until it was done.
Mike was very helpful as well as patient with us in determining the best paint to use for the job. He brought over different kinds of paint and painted a wall so that we could see the colour and feel the texture. That assisted greatly in us making the right decision in terms of what paint to use. He was confident in our colour selection and knew from his experience how many coats it would take to cover the darker shades of paint to lighter shades on the walls. He was flexible during the work as we decided to switch up some walls in terms of the colour - went from darker shade to lighter shade, and ended up painting the ceiling in the dining room. We found his honestly when he told us that the ceilings looked fine and did not need to be painted. Another painter would say that they needed painting regardless to add to the cost of the job.
Mike and Janaya took their time, yet stayed on schedule and ensured that their work was completed to our satisfaction. We can also attest to the fact that they are trustworthy, fully bonded, and we often left them in the house alone while we ran errands, or did other things. There was never any hesitation in doing so and we felt completely comfortable. Mike would move furniture if necessary, ensure that any furniture was completed covered/protected before starting to paint an area, also prior to leaving the job for the day, that the area was cleaned up and materials safely stored.
J.M.W. Painting is properly equipped with new plastic covers, appropriate ladders, cleaners, paint, etc. and what stood out for us was that they taped off our wooden baseboards and sanded before painting. Others painters who provided quotes would not a) move furniture, or b) tape off baseboards, or c) sand, or d) put one coat of paint instead of two. Mike provided all of these services. Prior to offering the job to J.M.W. Painting, we contacted Mike and asked him to come back again so that we could review the quote in person and ensure that we were in agreement with the work to be performed and conditions. Mike willingly stopped by and ensured that everything was discussed and there were no hidden charges or additional costs at the end of the job. Another admirable quality was that Mike showed up when he was expected throughout the weeks that he was on the job.
This proved his punctuality and reliability. Both Mike and Janaya are very professional, yet friendly and personable and I can say it was a pleasure to have them paint our home. Lastly, Mike is very open to a recall for any touch ups that may be necessary and took care of these for us. In closing, suffice to say that the paint job that they did was beautiful, the walls in our home never looked better!!! We would strongly recommend J.M.W. for any job in size.
